JavaHead is like a day at Tröegs; it’s hard to tell where the coffee ends and the beer begins. This creamy oatmeal stout is infused with locally roasted, cold steeped coffee through our HopBack vessel releasing subtle hints of cocoa, roasted nuts and dark mocha.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of Doodler. Pours a pitch black with a small beige head. Dark dried fruit dominates the nose, with some subtle roast. Medium body, a little low in carbonation, dark dried roast, licorice and subtle roast. Hardly any bitterness. Nice. 140212

tap - Pours veyr dark brown and smells of roast malt with plenty of coffee. The flavor is a very tasty roast coffee with a medium to full body and a somewhat bitter roast finish. It’s a straightforward coffee stout that’s very good.

Bottle. Black body with a big, dense tan head, slowly diminishing. Aroma of roasted and burnt malts, coffee, sweet chocolate. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery turning slick texture, moderate carbonation. Taste of roasted grain, black coffee. Sweet malts below the roast and hop bitterness. Dry finish. The body is thinner than you’d expect from the looks and ABV. But it doesn’t dilute the flavor. A little more sweetness would tame the coffee and hops, but that’s not a big problem. Nice drinker.
