JavaHead is like a day at Tröegs; it’s hard to tell where the coffee ends and the beer begins. This creamy oatmeal stout is infused with locally roasted, cold steeped coffee through our HopBack vessel releasing subtle hints of cocoa, roasted nuts and dark mocha.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Scratch 15. Pours with a murky deep brown body and a brown head that fades within a minute. Aroma is mocha from a mile away. On closer inspection there are notes of coffee, currants, creamer, licorice, dark fruits, leather, french vanilla. Taste is coffee, roast, leather, nougat. Pretty tasty. Lots of ash and tobacco in the long finish. Medium bubbles. Medium to light body. Nice.

Bottle at home ... red black ... thin tan head ... big hop ... loads of roast malt ... little coffee nose ... big coffee front ... light hop ... light bitter ... cold coffee linger ... light toffee ... decent but unexciting.

Bottle from a trade with machfive55. Pours dark brown with tan head. Aromas of roasted malts and faint coffee. Some cofffee flavor with roasted malts, milk chocolate and slightly ashy. I prefer a litle more coffee presence than this beer has. Medium to full body with moderate carbonation. Thanks Rich.

Coffee and charcoal nose. Black with tan chunks, thin tan head. Dry tart roasted malt flavor. Subdued charcoal and coffee finish. Very little coffee flavor, despite the name. Not very exciting.

A pretty dang good coffee stout - impressive body and head - smooth, creamy mouthfeel - rich coffee aroma and flavor, without any acidity or bitterness - the oats and roasted malt compliment this well - touches of smoke in the dry finish - some vanilla through the middle - tasty.

This beer pours black with a medium khaki head that diminishes steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of espresso and chocolate. Full body with flavors of coffee, cocoa and burnt malt. There is a good amount of chocolate present too. The finish is chocolatey with a moderately dry and bitter coffee aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

22oz bottle. Opaque black with some ruby-red edges. Big, rusty beige head. Cocoa coffee notes. Pretty well done coffee stout, with enough ABV to add the the complexity, but it remains completely drinkable. A nice bitterness interplay between the hops and coffee. Chocolate and cocoa notes, but not overly sticky and sugary. Coffee Stouts are not really my favorite, but I find this one to b e quite enjoyable, above par for the style.

Beautiful presentation in the glass. Dark choco moose thick head that sits on top of rather viscous black liguid. Hoppy dark beer smell but not overly coffee, roasted hints in the background. This olfactory carries over into the flavors, dark roasty with burnt black coffee instantly bitter roto tilling sideways across the tongue on its way to the back of the throat! Carbonation is that of a better nitro stout, smooth and creamy. Finish is coffee soaked partially burned wood from the campfire at the party the night before.

1-7-10....Bomber bottle...pours practically black with a light brown sugar head...Aroma is dark chocolate sweet malt and roasted coffee....real nice flavor happening at first...rich coffee--roasty malt--and even some of the chocolate...then something weird happened--the bottle went all weak and those delicious flavors disappeared....so I let it sit and came back after a bit----results--it became a mix of the two observations--I’ve had better coffee stouts...like S.T. Javahha...but its decent with proper airing...I enjoy Troegs
