Sour Wheat Beer, once an icon of the city of Berlin, home to the troubled 1936 olympics homaged in the label design. We add 100 kg of raspberries and 10 kg of basil to every batch: its vivid pink colour will seduce you, together with its rose, lemon and red fruits scent. It is light, sour and refreshing. We would call it a comfort beer.

Red, slightly pink body, with a medium, creamy, dissipating, off-white head.
Lovely, unique aroma of basil, barnyard, red berries, flowers, some perfume.
Tastes quite similar, with more citric sourness and a bit less berries.
Light, slick mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes medium sour, fruity, citric, subtly funky, a bit dry.
Tasty. Unique stuff, the basil works surprisingly well combined with the berries. Very fresh and easy, but with enough depth at the same time. Lovely style example I could drink all day.

330ml bottle @ Chez Sophie. Pours vivid hazy pink, receding pinkish white head. Aroma is basil, assorted wild red berries, light aniseed. Taste is immediately crisp, sour, lightly salty, basil creeping in on the finish. Its raspberry character is nestled nicely beneath rather than overpowering. Very enjoyable, crisp lightly fruity berliner.
