Nordic Lean in collaboration with Stillwater Artisanal is a Purple IPA that’s been 100% fermented with Brettanomyces c. and dry-hopped with Pacific Gem and Centennial. How did we purp it? A combination of blueberry, blackberry and black currant juices. It’s tangy, hoppy, juicy and funky. This unique beer is beautiful, nice and a little fucked up, just like us.

330 ml bottle from Biervana, Munich, bottled 13/01/17.
Ruby, hazy body, with a medium, fluffy, lacing, light pink head.
Aroma of sweet-sour berries, grapefruit, quite a lot of herbal notes at the start, that give way to Brett more and more though, as the beer warms up.
Tastes of sour berries, grapefruit, Brett, lemongrass, some lemon candy, subtle tropical fruits.
Medium, slick mouthfeel, with a lively carbonation.
Finishes dry, Bretty, moderate bitter, a bit sour, fruity, with berries and lemon zest.

Nice one. The nose is a bit weird initially, with herbal notes I don’t like much, but gets better as the beer breaths and warms up a bit. Taste is better from start, with lots of sour berries and Brett, but feels a bit unbalanced, could be smoother. Overall good beer, but I was expecting even a bit more.

330ml bottle. Pours a cloudy purple colour with a small head, also tinted purple. Aroma: tart dark berry fruits, blackberries. Taste: predominantly berries, mostly blackberry, some general hoppiness, lightly acidic, sweet, the finish is moderately bitter. Medium body and carbonation, oily texture. Interesting one. I quite liked it but didn’t realise it was going to be this fruity, it’s much more a fruit beer than an IPA... good one though.

Keg @ Friends Of Ham, Leeds. Cloudy purple-pink and mildly sour. It’s quite hoppy with its strength hidden and a bland sweetness.

0.33l bottle. Was not expecting that color on the pour. It's a near purple one, super cloud - near murky and with a tiny rapidly gone pinkish film on the top. On the nose I get lots of nice strange and interesting things. It's definitely fruity. Red berries, wild forest berries like blackberry and blueberries for sure. Been a while since I've smelled blueberries like this in a beer, and I quite like that. Other than that it's not all that much going on. A mild generic hoppy citrussy to back up that fruitiness. Smells nice. More sourish, dry and a little chalky in the taste. It has a mild oily texture in the mouth and it's below average on the carbonation. Tastes a little like a slightly over date yogurt added milk and alcohol. Sure, sounds strange but it works in a weird way. Or does it? Leaving it to air for a while it just turns more dry and chalky and even a little harsh. Even the berrieness fades quite a bit. A strange one this, can't really decide if I like it. Don't think that's a good thing. Or is it? 21.04.2017
