Nordic Lean in collaboration with Stillwater Artisanal is a Purple IPA that’s been 100% fermented with Brettanomyces c. and dry-hopped with Pacific Gem and Centennial. How did we purp it? A combination of blueberry, blackberry and black currant juices. It’s tangy, hoppy, juicy and funky. This unique beer is beautiful, nice and a little fucked up, just like us.

Bottle, 2,5 months after bottling. Pours opaque red, with a finger thick creamy head. Aroma is bitter hoppy citrus peel, flowers and tart fruity notes of berries and fruit peel. Medium body, with average to fizzy carbonation. Flavour is tart lactic acid, fruit peel, berries and some bitter citrusy notes. Lingering acidic finish with minerals and lemon juice, as well as bitter grapefruit in the finish.

Nice light pink slightly bubbly-creamy mediumlasting head, slightly hazy dark reddish color. Aroma is slightly dry sour-ish grassy, weeds, minerals, sour grass, berry skin, leafs, hay, fruit stones, bark, soda powder, sour dark berries, hops, rubber. Taste is dry sour-ish grassy, weeds, sour grass, fruit stones, berry skin, minerals, bark, rubber, hops, paper, leafs, soda powder, sour dark berries. Medium to longlasting bitterness, dry sour-ish harsh mouthfeel. Not my cup of tea.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a cloudy red - like a berry juice - with hardly any head. Tart, berry-like aroma. Medium body, unpleasant astringency from the combination of sour berries and heavy hops. Fucked up - yes. Nice? Not so much. 280317

Hazy red - mauve beer, good size head, vibrant pink! Palate is light, semi dry and mildly crisp. Smooth light malts. Mellow berry fruits, not tart, blackcurrant most obvious. Mild pine and a trace of orange peel. The smooth finish brings a modest bitterness. Curious beer, never sure about adding dark berries to an IPA. It just about works here but certainly could have had more hop kick for me.

330 ml bottle at Burger Bordello. Hazy red/purple body with a small, pink head. Not particular strong aroma that’s has a general fruitiness in it. A hint of matured red berries, cherry stone, some wood and something undefined “farmhouse thing”. Flavor is sweet fruit, matured cherry, some kind of fruity harsh bitterness, not in an unpleasant way, more like something to expect from older conserved cherries that has been in contact with the cherry stone for a while. Medium body with an aftertaste that also has a mix of sweet ness and harshness. Interesting, but not the most balanced fruit beer I have tasted.
