Draft in pint glass. Typical opaque stout. Thinner and more watery than the typical stout. I wondered what that unusual taste was on the finish until I looked it up on Ratebeer. I didn’t guess sweet potato . . . guessed pickles!

Sampled from the tap at the Nashville Flying Saucer. Pours black with a dark brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has roasted malts and dark grains up front with a hint of underlying sweetness. Flavor does have a sweet potato note that works well with the dark grains and roasted malts.

Enjoyed on tap at a Taco Mac in Atlanta, GA...the butthole of America. Appearance is pitch black with a rich, robust light tan head, looks decadent. Aroma is very nice and unique, a bit of starchiness to it, light chocolate and cream. Taste is pretty outstanding, has a nice nutty flavor to it with obvious lactose presence, the sweet potato is great as a complimentary ingredient. Finishes a bit dry, moderate body and carbonation. Great stuff, probably won’t have many other brews from this small brewery but I’m enjoying this one for sure.

Draft. Deep brown/black body. Tan head, mostly diminishing. Aroma of roasted malts, sweet coffee, milk. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, moderate carbonation. Herbal flavor, along with a some metallic acidity, in the finish. Dry and drinkable but less than notable.

On tap Petrol Station. Pours a dark brown with ruby hue. The aroma is light roast and chocolate. Thick mouthfeel with a rich coffee malt and lingering dry finish. Easy to drink a very good stout from Lazy Magnolia.

Very dark colour. Looks quite appetizing. Chocolatey nose. Chocolatey, fudgey stout with light roast at the back and a generally sweet finish. Not getting much sweet potato but this is good stout.

On tap at the 2010 installment of Stogies and Stouts pouring deep dark with brown edges and thin mocha head. The aroma is kind of roasty to burnt with a molasses sweetness mixed in as well as a chocolaty earthiness. The taste is smooth and sweet with highly roasted malts mixing with sweet notes of molasses along with an earthy note I can’t put my finger on. It dries out a bit into the finish and after taste with dark roasted malts.

Draft at GABF! Nose of coffee, roastiness, and light chocolate notes. Black with a big tan head. Flavor is coffee and chocolate malts.

draft @ Cooper Brown, NOLA. pours dark brown, beige head. aroma and taste, roasted malts with caramel, dark malts, light medium carbonation, hints of caramel with a touch of smoke in the finish. Hints of chocolate and some bitter hops come finish this one with some roast.
