Brooklyn Scorcher IPA is a surprisingly sessionable IPA. A floral, piney aroma strikes first, followed by a burst of mouthwatering bitterness as the hops begin their attack. Suddenly, a hint of toasty malt and a clean, lively finish burst in to leave you thirsty for more. It’s ludicrously tasty, and at a reasonable 4.5%, it’s a beer you can come back to again and again.

Bottle from K-Supermarket, Tormola, Porvoo. Cloudy mid-gold without any head to speak of. Lemon candies and Malteasers in the aroma. Sweet taste with a lemony citrus note but still never losing touch with the malt base. I take issue with the style (more golden ale than SIPA), it’s kind of what I expected from their Summer Ale: one-dimensionally refreshing and worth having in the fridge if you’re after an uncomplicated drink. So decent enough on its own merit but those chasing an IPA-esque experience will be sorely disappointed.

Bottle @ Naugty Brg, Helsinki. Straight from the bottle. Citrus, grass and fruits on the aroma. Taste is refreshingly citrus, fruits. Lot of carbonation. Nice, easy drinking and light beer.

Bottle @ Bridge Bier Huis, Burnley. Hazy yellow with a carbonation and a thin head. Citrus-hoppy ale with crisp tasting lemon and grapefruit, with more of the former dominating in an easy-drinking texture.

355ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Slightly hazy pale golden yellow colour with a one finger white head. Aroma: Fresh fruity citrus and floral hops, grapefruit, orange peel, mango, malt. Taste: follows the aroma, also bit of biscuity malt but yeah, fresh and fruity, grapefruit, citrus. Quite a bitter finish. Light body, moderate carbonation. Decent session IPA.
