Southern Pecan Nut Brown Ale is the first beer in the world, to our knowledge, made with whole roasted pecans. The pecans are used just like grain and provide a nutty characteristic and a delightful depth to the flavor profile. This beer is very lightly hopped to allow the malty, caramel, and nutty flavors shine through. The color is dark mahogany. Southern Pecan won a Bronze Medal in the 2006 World Beer Cup in the Specialty Beer category.

Pours a clear reddish-amber, with a frothy creme-colored head. Aroma of vanilla, light malt, and spice. Taste has chocolate, caramel, some malty sweetness. Palate has nutty note that lingers, sweet mouth note that coats the tongue. Not bad.

Light red brown color. Toasted bread aroma. Taste is slightly woody, brown ale roasted malt, mild floral hop bitterness, a little sweet caramel malt flavor comes through on the end. Dry finish.

Backlog from 2019. Amber brown pour with a caramel malt aroma. The flavor is kind of nutty but not hugely so. It’s sweet with caramel malt and a little hops bitterness. Light to medium bodied.

Few bottles at home. Chestnut colored and frothy head. Nose is light nuts and dried leaf litter. Taste of pecans but very subdued, some earth, caramel and fig. Watery palate.

[12oz bottle from Total Wines, Naples, FL.] An attractive copper coloured pour with a tight cream head; sweet nutty aroma; earthy malt taste with a sweet nutty finish. Just what I was expecting, but rather on the sweet side for me.

From weihenweizen: pours light brown with quickly dissipating head. Not much of a looker really. Aroma is mild pecan and caramelized sugar. Taste is sweet m, low hoppiness, not as nutty as I would have liked. I also like pecans a lot. Meh.

12 oz. bottle, courtesy of Andrew (thanks man!), my last state to tick - pours a hazy dark amber brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted pecans, with some caramel and bready malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with toasted pecans, with maple syrup, and bready caramel. Oily and sweet, without any depth. Not too special.
