This very special beer specialty is named after its origin, because our brewery is located directly at the foot of the famous pilgrimage site "Maria Ehrenberg" in the Rhön region.

The ''Pilgerstoff'' matures in our cold beer cellars into a full-bodied and perfectly rounded masterpiece for at least 8 weeks. It presents itself in a clear dark amber colour, strong roasted malt flavors and a velvety soft foam crown.

Clear medium amber colour, tall creamy off-white to beige head, recedes slowly, good lacing. Aroma toasted dark malts, candy sugar, caramel. Taste medium sweet and light bitter, malty, toffee, nutty notes. Malty sweetbitter aftertaste, medium body, watery to oily texture, soft carbonation, quite okay.

Jan. ’16. A 0.5 l bottle shared with Marko and ogivlado. It poured lightly hazy honey brown body with a medium sized head. Stinky stale malt aroma. Flavor was very weakly sweet, roasted caramel and toasted bread. Quite thin bodied with moderately long stale malt and some herbal dry finish. Not really my type of a malty lager with all that dogfood stale malt, boring.

Amber with little white head. Aroma is fruity, but some malty wort, which is somewhat unpleasant. Taste is bittersweet. Watery. Overall not so good.

0,5 liter fles, 5,2%, schenkt helder koper/amber met witte fijne kraag. aroma van caramel, weeïge mout, muffig, aards. smaken zijn daarentegen een stuk beter, mout, goede zachte frisse caramel, iets droog, zacht, gist, dun/waterig, ok co2, zwakke body, te doen.

Pours light brown into the bottle with a thin, creamy head that soon fades. No lacing at all, looks rather inert. Optically, a bit disappointing. Taste is of lots of roasted caramel malt, some nuts, bread, and a light sugar sweetness. Finish is very mildly bitter. Medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Despite an unexhilerating start the beer does grow on you in its workmanlike sort of way. Pleasant, but does not leave you yearning for the next one.
