Black body, “svartkropp” in Swedish, is a physical entity in perfect balance and with infinite integrity. It is also the name of our premier stout. Its complex body is a balancing act with nine types of malt, including a peated Islay variety, muscovado sugar, and a combination of Chinook and Cascade hops. Like all our beers, Svartkropp is hand-made, bottle-conditioned and unfiltered to ensure the truest and most genuine flavour. This stout can be stored and matured for years. Once opened, serve in a snifter to fully enjoy your Modernist beer!

Bottled (thanks omhper!). Pitch black colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is liquorice, some toasted notes, quite dark chocolate with some mild coffeeish notes. Also some ashes and sweet notes. Flavour is rather similar, but also has a nice bitterness that kicks in to balance the sweet maltiness. Not all too good when cold, but as it got close to room temperature it began working really well, becoming a nice sipper to look forward to.

Bottle. Opaque black liquid with huge, thick deep tan head. Gorgeous head with good stability. Nice lacing. Aroma of coffee, licorice, ash, peat, light fruity hops, dried fruit and licorice. Taste is light to medium sweet and light to medium bitter with notes of peat, peat, licorice and coffee. Medium to full bodied with medium carbonation. Wonderful aroma, great looks and good taste. Maybe a bit too ashy. Otherwise, really, really nice beer. Edit: Became a little sour after warming up, so lowered taste by 1. Too much really dark malt (black patent?) and not enough carbonates?

33 cl bottle @ Pikkulintu
Aroma has coffee, peat and toffee. Flavour has salty licorica, coffee, some peat and hints of tobacco. Also some toffee. It’s a shame that this is too salty, there’s a great potential in this to be a brilliant beer.
