Efter en lång tur i vår blanka Volvo 850 tog vi en paus vid Öresund. vi slog på gasolköket, kokade en kopp kaffe och kollade ut mo havet. Vid horisonten såg vi en liten eka närma sig fort. Den lade till precis framför oss och ut klev vår vän Marcelo. Det visade sig att han hade hela båten full med Skandinaviens gyllene bär havtorn. Det bestämde vi oss för att göra en öl av. Här har ni den. Syrlig, juicig och fullproppad med havtorn.

Where: Systembolaget.
Appearance: Opaque yellow colour with a minimal head. Looks a bit like orange juice.
Aroma: Tart, acidic, mango, fruit.
Body: Full body, low to medium carbonation.
Flavour: Acidic, tart, sour, mango, fruit.

Can 33 cl. Pours thick and completely opaque like mango juice with a super short-lived, fizzy head. Concentrated sea buckthorn actually smells pretty nasty, and this is no exception. Hard to describe, but somewhere along the lines of greasy and herbal, and in no way refreshing or enticing. Medium body, very tart - a mix of lactic acid and ascorbic acid, with that greasy note underlining the whole thing. I never thought I should advice a brewer to use LESS fruit, but that is the case here. The sea buckthorn is simply too dominant. In smaller doses it can be delicious and complex. In this beer it is not. 081221

Burk. Syrlig fruktjuice. En frisk skogskänsla som för tankarna till björkris. Tjock mjuk munkänsla. Tyvärr en viss mjölkighet som drar ner helhetskänslan.
