Cask at the Wellington; mahogany brown pour with a bubbly light tan head, aroma has roast malts and a hint of chocolate, taste has red fruits, a hint of coffee, light roast.

On tap at the Royal Hop Pole Twekesbury. Dark almost black colour, with thin tan head. Aroma has roast malt. The taste has roast malt, coffe and fruit.

On the train from Hereford to Inverness, bottle thanks to SP, 18/10/13. Very dark mahogony brown with a thin light tan covering. Nose is light roast, hint of cocoa, dark toffee fudge, earthy, brown sugars. Taste comprises cocoa, toffee fudge, earthy roastness. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, lgiht roast in the finish. A pretty basic porter - whelming!

Cask handpull at the Grape and Grain- Crystal Palace Spring Beer Festival, 2013. Dark brown pour with a reddish tint and a diminishing beige head. Dark fruit and raisin aroma. Flavours of prunes, raisins, toffee and licorice. Bitter-roast finish.

Cask at GBBF 2012, London. Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head. Burnt grass nose, some charred malts. Light to medium sweet flavor with burnt sugar and wood, some baking cocoa. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Dry finish with more baking cocoa, moderate roast, dry burnt wood. Good.

GBBF. Opaque dark brown - black beer. Little tan head. Smooth dry palate. Tangy dark malts, stands out from the crowd by having well integrated mild coffee. Very subtle dark fruits. Lactose. Easy drinking.

Bottle 500ml.Clear dark brown color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, chocolate, light vanilla. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20100629]

Bottle, 5.3%. Sweet aroma, mildly roasted, lactose. Very dark brown colour, red shine. The flavour is roasted with some barley bitterness. Dark chocolate and chocolate bitterness also.
