A Northwest interpretation of a classic English style, golden copper in color and loaded with New World hop flavor and aroma. Extremely drinkable.

Bottle - Sweet pink grapefruit from the hops. Nice clear gold with a medium white head. Grapefruit is very prominent and a milder bitterness than I would expect considering the strong flavour. Very one sided and simple, a good beer but not a great one.

Bottle @ home. Fairly clear, dark orange appearance with a cream colored head. Rich grapefruity, tropical fruity, mango, a bit dank hoppy, slightly spicy aroma. Somewhat piney, rich grapefruit, orange, mango, pineapple fruity, a bit tangy, slightly earthy flavor. Great beer- I need to pick up a sixer of this some time.

22oz bomber poured into a shaker. Pours a lightly cloudy orange with a half finger of white head. Aroma of pine and citrus. Taste is light bitter. Mostly citrus and grapefruit with a little pine. Medium bodied with a thin texture. Lively carbonation and a decently long finish. Overall, not bad. I wouldn’t seek it out again but I’ll enjoy this one.

My first elysian, on tap at the Bocktown Monaca. Looks like slightly hazy pale lager. Nice half inch head. Not much aroma but fer sure the olfactory knows it is IPA. Big and bitter from the start but not really totally overwhelming like so many other IPA. Yes it is bitter. What else can be said about this style? Has some decent co2 for an IPA and this makes it at least a little interesting for me. Long bitter fresh green grapefruit rind finish.

Bottle: Poured a hazy blonde color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of light floral hops with a semi-sweet malt base. Taste is also a mix between some floral notes with some semi-sweet malt base and a light dry hoppy finish. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not bad but I was expecting some more hops bite in this beer.

Whole Foods Market-Dupont, DC 650ml ($6): Pours a copper color with a white head that leaves lacing. Light spicy, floral, and lemony hops in the aroma with an evident malt backbone. As others have noted, this beer is nothing like West Coast hop slaughter. In fact, it thrives on its more subtle traits. That being said, this is not one of my favorite IPAs, nor one of my favorite beers in general. Somewhat bitter hops are accompanied by a mild sweetness, with some lemon juice like flavor getting in there as well.

Golden-amber color, steady beige head, lace. Tropical fruity, citrusy aroma. Medium-bodied. Fruity hoppyness with pine needle bitterness. Well-balanced strong IPA.

Bomber into tulip. Bought at Albertson’s in CDA, ID. Pours cloudy orange with a medium-large off-white head with good retention; lace sheets the glass. Aroma is bready, citrusy, though not in my face how I like it. Taste is bittersweet, delicious, crisp and refreshing. Fruity. Carbonation and body are medium, mouthfeel is creamy. Nice.
