Gravicask at The 14th Robin Hood Beer and Cider Festival '22, Marquee Bar. Shared with Finn. Clear reddish-amber body, poor lacing and no head. Berry skins and ripe citrus nose. Berry-fruity flavours, citrus and raspberries. Prolonged ending, dry and slightly bitter. Fair enough. (Nottingham 13.10.2022).

Handpull cask at the Old Horse, Leicester. Got this free thanks to Housemartins & Beautiful South singer Paul Heaton, who put money behind the bar of 60 pubs in the UK in honour of his 60th birthday! The beer is pink and clear with a pinkish white head. Artificial raspberry and light vinous notes in the aroma. Sweet taste with just a touch of raspberry, leading to a bitter finish. Tastes a little bit dirty but all in all very drinkable and even enjoyable despite the flaws.

Cask at Butlers Bell, Stafford. Pours a red amber with a small frothy pinkish-white head and good lacing. There’s an obviously false fruoty aroma to this one – like raspberry or cherryade. Starts of well in the mouth with a brief flash of floral hops is followed by a shedload of raspberries. It goes downhill from there though as the raspberries fade out to be replaced by a horrible rough, sticky, metallic flavour – somewhere between bran flakes and cough mixture ! I really didn’t like this all.

Cask at the Pump House JDW, Shirley, West Midlands. Poured a clear medium amber colour with a lasting creamy white head. The aroma is malt, big raspberries. The flavour is moderate sweet, light bitter, with a smooth, malt, juicy raspberry, light sweet vanilla palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
