Its clear gleaming look and firm, fine pored head goes hand in hand with its fresh and pure aroma. Malty nuances are the first impressions.
Spezial Hell is pleasantly tangy with a full, round malt body that cannot fail to fascinate. The soft flavour carries a distinctive balance of sweet accents and bitter hoppiness.
It concludes on equally soft malty nuances – a classical festival beer in the tradition of old Bavarian brewing (13.5% original extract and 5.9% alcohol by volume).

Clear medium golden colour, one finger frothy white head, recedes slowly to a thin layer, fair lacing. Aroma sweet malty, grain, hay, yeasty. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter, malty, grain. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, sweetbitter aftertaste, bit spicy on the tongue, slightly more bitterness in the aftertaste, abrupt finish, okay.

Tap at GBBF ’14. Golden, clear, with the biggest white head I’ve ever seen. Almost no aroma. A bit of wheat and lemon typical of German lagers but that’s all. The taste is also slight. A gentle sweetness throughout, although there is the slightest touch of jarring bitter/sourness. The carbonation adds mouthfeel to the weak palette. Not bad, but surprisingly lacking in character. Shame.

The Helles of this brewery shows a cream white, dense, crispy head and deep golden blonde, bright colour; an aroma of pure and sweetish pale malts with a subtle whiff of flowery hops and impressions of vanilla, cheese spread, honey, chamomille, banana and cream; and a taste of sweetish, soft and supple malts, mild carbonation, relatively full and almost creamy at least for a lager; and finishes in a sweetish graininess with only a light, aromatic hoppiness without getting bitter, as is custom in the style. Classic example of a Münchener Helles, in my opinion.

Keg at the Earl of Essex, 24/06/14. Clear pale golden with a good sized white cap formed of small bubbles. Nose is bready malt o’clock, citric rinds, light psice, fresh grass. Taste comprises light floral notes, hint of caramel, lemon peel, bread dough, pale malts, vanilla custard. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, smooth on the palate, light grassy bitterness in a mellow close. Solid lager.

Bottle shared at my 5555th rating tasting at Sar HaMashkaot Ramat Gan. Thanks mom & dad for this bottle! Clear golden with a white head. Grainy aroma with a bit of DMS and a faint noble hops hint. Sweetish flavor, bready and grainy, with some slightly herbal and citric noble hops and a mildly bitter finish. Medium-bodied.

Bottle from Galeria Kaufhof, Frankfurt. It pours clear golden with a medium, fizzy white head. The nose is cereal, hay, straw, grain and icing sugar. The taste is crisp, doughy, buttered white bread, grass and cereal with a dry finish. Medium body and prickly carbonation. Not bad for a fizzy yellow number.
