Klosterbrauerei Andechs Spezial Hell

Spezial Hell

Klosterbrauerei Andechs in Andechs, Bavaria, Germany 🇩🇪

Lager - Märzen / Festbier Regular
Score
6.53
ABV: 5.9% IBU: - Ticks: 189
Its clear gleaming look and firm, fine pored head goes hand in hand with its fresh and pure aroma. Malty nuances are the first impressions.

Spezial Hell is pleasantly tangy with a full, round malt body that cannot fail to fascinate. The soft flavour carries a distinctive balance of sweet accents and bitter hoppiness.

It concludes on equally soft malty nuances – a classical festival beer in the tradition of old Bavarian brewing (13.5% original extract and 5.9% alcohol by volume).

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - pale but bright golden. Decent lacy head. Nose - bread and lemon. Taste - brown bread, custard, hop spice and a touch of lemon zest on the finish. Palate - light bodied, dry hop and malt bitterness through the middle and finish. Overall - very nice.

Best before 01/06/2021, 500ml bottle

APPEARANCE: crystal clear golden color with lasting snow white and compact head

AROMA: a first few sniffs shows clear oxidation note in form of dry paper stock and cardboard but that fades away quickly and gives room for sweet bread, biscuit, bread dough, hints of sweet cornbread, floral bouquet, perfume, green apple, subtle honey, cellar dust, light citrusy presence of lemon/lime

TASTE: moderate carbonation with fluffy and creamy bubbles, medium light to medium body, quite slick and slightly oily/syrupy in comparison with other Festbiers; highly drinkable with smooth dryness and noble hop bitterness; fairly sweet, syrupy onset from malt sugars, sweet grains, biscuit, floral and low hints of forest honey (acacia), apple peel, soft citrusy tartness adds a refreshing note, mineral presence at the back end, faint iron note, light noble hop bitterness with notes of wood, sweetgrass, subtle hay and very gentle herbal note

OVERALL: no words needed, this is textbook example of German Festbier, slightly richer malt sweetness and mouthfeel in comparison with other Festbiers

Bottle from Beers Of Europe. Pours a clear golden colour with a medium sized throthy white head. Aromas of malts, grains, hay, grass, straw, white bread and hints of honey. Taste is fresh with more of the notes from the aroma with some light peppery spice on the finish.Medium to full body, smooth buttery mouthfeel. Excellent lager one of my favourites for sure.

0.5 bottle. Lapátolták a főzetbe a malátát rendesen :)
***
Light golden color, nice clean decoction. Its white foam is quite large and durable. It looks like sour acid. Basic hop malt with balanced lager aroma. The taste is delicate, good-bodied, sweet-based, more carbonated than medium. Vegig remains malt with some yeast. Good monastic stuff, plus 5.9% shows that there is material in it compared to the category. The malt was shoveled into the decoction properly :)

Bottle from House Of Trembling Madness. Clear golden body with a thick white head. Lively carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of grass, lemon, bay leaf, spinach and coriander seed. Flavour of white bread, Rich Tea biscuit and earth. Thin to medium body with a slick texture. Light fizz. A clean, delicious lager from one of Germany’s best breweries.

Flaska från Systembolaget. Ljust gyllengul klar vätska med vitt skum. Dofter av gräs och vitt sött bröd och lätt degighet. Enkel och oknusslig i smaken utan inställsam aromhumle.
