We brew our beer in New York, about halfway between the hop fields of the Pacific Northwest and the hop fields of Kent, England. So we use earthy English hops to build the foundation and bright citrusy American hops to bring the noise in the rambunctious IPA we call BLAST! British Maris Otter and German Pilsner malts lends solidity, balance and bready flavors to brace up a beer that’s beautifully hoppy, strangely quaffable and oddly compelling. Minerally hop bitterness is followed by a shock wave of flavor and aroma. You won’t even know what hit you.

Bottle from Gary’s Pours a slightly hazy deep straw color with a decent sized creamy bubbly white head that slowly dissipates. Aromas of orange, earth. pine, and resin with a solid light sweet sugary maltiness to back it up. The flavor is quite sweet like the aroma suggested with sweet sugar covered oranges and apricots. The earthy pine is less prevalent in the flavor as is the bitterness. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation. Its got some nice flavors and I’m guessing most of the fruit flavors might be hop derived. Needs more attenuation and more bitterness.

Palate: Medium to full body. Slight sweet and a fine bitterness. Average carbonation. Oily texture.
Taste: Malty, deep overripe fruity and grapefruit hoppy. Some alcohol coming up. A bit unbalanced.
Overall impression: A bit to much fruity for me and to much alcohol coming up.

Aftertaste: bitter, some honey, dry, bit grassy, hay, very malty, grains. Too old, alas... :( Probably much better when fresh.

Bottle at Piccadilly, Bod. Has a clear amber colour with a small, off-white head. Fruity aroma of peaches, berries, tropical fruit and sweet malt. Fruity is also the flavour with tones of grapefruit, apricot, pine and leather. Has a slick mouth feel, and a medium bitterness. A fruity, well-balanced and nice DIPA.
