Über offenem Buchenfeuer gedarrtes Rauchmalz prägt den typischen Geschmack von Roog. Jedoch verwenden wir nur einen geringen Anteil an Rauchmalz und zusätzlich verschiedene dunkle Malze. Dadurch hat es nicht zu ausgeprägte Raucharomen wie herkömmliche Rauchbiere. Cie milden Rauchnoten sind harmonisch in die Weizencharakteristik eingebunden und werden von Noten von Wachholderschinken, Nelke und gebrannter Mandel begleitet.

New Beer Distributors, NYC 50cl ($8.25): Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is caramel, dark fruit, and only a hint of smoke. There is really not much smoke in this except a wee bit right at the finish. The beer wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t all that interesting. Somewhat disappointing.

650ml bottle. Murky brown colour with average, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Smoky aroma, clammy ashes, apple parings. Taste is smoky, minimally wheaty, a fruity touch of apple, hints of burnt almonds, subtle sweetness; slightly sticky palate. Slightly weird mixture.

Reddish amber with a thin head. Aroma is malt and caramel. Flavour of light caramel, a little wood on a sweet caramel finish.

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Cloudy nut brown, small head. Phenolic nose with ripe banana, light smoke and caramel. Sweey with medium-full body and soft mouthfeel. Bubblegum and caramel. Low bitterness.

Flaska från SB. Ett riktigt trevligt öl och framför allt överaskande. Kryddig och lätt pepprig råg möter en lätt rökighet där 1 + 1 = 3 med trevliga träiga toner och en sammantagen upplevelse av lätt bränt stenugnsbakat bröd.

650ml bottle, as Roog Rauchweizen, kindly shared by djoeye. Solid, frothy off-white head atop a hazy, apricot coloured body that has got a reddish shade. Complex aroma of mild dried fruits, subdued touch of smoked malts. Spiced fruity flavours supported by wheat, caramel and brief notes of smoked malts. Dry fruity ending. Medium bodied. Rather sweet, but overall a decent brew (Tromsø 06.11.2013).

Bottle from Systembolaget. Hazy dark copper with a large head. Sweet aroma and taste of light smoke, banana, malt, some candy, caramel and wheat. On the thin side and a bit weird to be honest. Not my type of beer.

Bottle. Hazy deep brown liquid with small to medium off-white head. Aroma of sweet smoke, bacon, wood, raw sugar, raisins, bread and toffee. Taste is light sweet and light bitter with notes of bacon, smoke and toffee. Light to medium bodied with low carbonation. Not that nice, combination of sweet and smoke is weird.
