Über offenem Buchenfeuer gedarrtes Rauchmalz prägt den typischen Geschmack von Roog. Jedoch verwenden wir nur einen geringen Anteil an Rauchmalz und zusätzlich verschiedene dunkle Malze. Dadurch hat es nicht zu ausgeprägte Raucharomen wie herkömmliche Rauchbiere. Cie milden Rauchnoten sind harmonisch in die Weizencharakteristik eingebunden und werden von Noten von Wachholderschinken, Nelke und gebrannter Mandel begleitet.

Bottled. A hazy dark red beer wiht a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel as well as hints of smoke. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and caramel as well as a lighter note of smoke, leading to a dry and slightly smokey finish.

Cloudy amber color; giant head; there is a thin collar of yeast around the bottle neck. Mild aroma of malt and very light smoke, some yeast too. Smooth mouthfeel, creamy flavor; there is some roasted malt and moderate presence of smoked malt; but the body is a bit too un-bold, the beer un-daring, and the mouthfeel too dry for my taste. Quite good nevertheless.

Bottle. Cloudy red, golden cream. Pitch and juniper aroma. Peach and burned banana fruityness, burned leaves and tar smokyness, wood-smoke and marzipan retronasal. berry notes. Creamy mouthfee, chewy. not bad at all.

Angenehm bananiger Antrunk, der erst auf den zweiten Blick die seichte Rauchnote zeigt. Dann überschneiden sich die Aromen eine Zeit lang bis die Bananigkeit dunkler wird und eine herbe Note aufkommt. Süffig, zum Ende dann wieder intensiver. In Ordnung. 11/9/9/10/12/9

Bottle. Tasted blind @ yespr. Pours a hazy amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity spicy yeasty caramel aroma. Sweetish malty fruity and weak smokey flavor. Has a sweetish malty spicy weak smokey finish.

Bottle 33cl. @ yespr blindtasting. [ Bottle #25. ]Hazy medium to dark grey amber color with a large, creamy to frothy, good lacing, fully to mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, smoke - meat, rubber - plastic. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20110219]

bottle. Deep brown colour, mid-sized beige head. Wheaty-chocolatey nose. Chocolate, caramel and raisins, there is a dusty maltiness present. I can hardly detect any hints of smoke - to me it’s a pretty standard Dunkelweizen.
