Bottle. Tart apple syrup aroma with soft oak, only lightly picking up the bourbon. Some malt, darkish fruits. Tart with a fine sourness, only a hint of sweetness. Medium body. Very good.

Both of these breweries are great so of course this rocks. A dark wild ale with apple and pear syrup. Licking my lips.

Bottle, 375ml. A dark brown colored beer with a minimal sized beige head. The aroma has a touch of vinegar and booze, with dark dried fruit and some toffee notes. Raisin and some dusty cellar. It's full-bodied, tart and softly carbonated. The flavor has dark dried fruit, raisin and prune mostly, with some toffee and vinegar. Blue grapes and lots of funk. Leather, some lemon and barnyard. Lasting funky, lightly vinegary finish. A bit acidic this one I think. 220209

9-4-8-5-17 Bottle, #1, jaar 2021. Pours opaque, dark brown, with a rocky off white head. Aroma is slightly acetic with fruity notes of sour cherries, apples, dark berries and rum raisins, as well as tannins and bourbon barrels. Medium body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is acetic, with fruity notes of cherries, wine grapes, berries and apples, as well as leather, tannins and wooden barrels. Dry finish. All beers should taste a bit more like this.

Pours very dark brown to black. Scent is coca cola like. Mild acetic acid. Taste is sharp, tart, woody, mildly acetic. Far less cola like in the taste.

Dutch sour ale specialist Nevel collaborating with Eik & Tid, in this ‘oud bruin’ style sour with apple syrup and pear; at Billie’s Craft Beer Fest. Medium thick, pale beige, moussy, stable head, misty dark chestnut brown robe with glowing mahogany hue. Aroma of wild apples but also apple syrup indeed, ripe pear, cherry vinegar, passionfruit, caramel, some balsamico. Very fruit-sour onset with much lighter lactic acidity underneath, lots of sour apple but also redcurrant and sour cherry effects, medium carb, tartness continuing over a rounded, caramelly and brown-bready malt character; pear syrup sets in near the end, adding a teeth-sticking, indeed syrupy sweet dimension to the overall tartness; the sour aspect remains dominant, however, and admittedly the sour apple aspect does match better with the sweet pear syrup than I was expecting. Nice, spicy, pungent and actually very drinkable dark sour.

Bottle shared at Maakun’s. Dark brown with offwhite head. Sour rotting oak, Alvinne, fruity and fierce, rusty, really old cherries, apple syrup spread. Apple syrup and quite strong sour.
