Can. An oily pour leavin a small, dense, dark beige head over a dark brown, almost clear body. The aroma has lots of dark sugar, caramel and dark chocolate, with coffee and a hint of vanilla. Coconut notes. It's sweet and full-bodied on the palate, sticky, lightly carbonated, with a nice warmth. Toffee, dark chocolate, some spiced notes, hints of vanilla and a good dash of coffee in the flavor. Lasting sweet finish. A bit sharp and too sticky this one, even for a pastry imp stout. 220108

150ml draught at Hopyard. Low beige head blanketing the glass. Pitch black body. Dark malts and dark fruit on the nose, hints of spices. Vanilla sweet taste of dark malts, coffee, and biscuit, lightly spiced. Long lived ending of roasted coffee bitterness. Full bodied. Enjoying birthday drink. (Oslo 03.11.2021).

Strong coffee stout from a Norwegian brewery I was not quite familiar with yet, at Billie’s Craft Beer Fest. Medium thick, greyish ‘pure’ beige, moussy head on a black beer with burgundy edges. Aroma of very pronounced actual coffee (espresso), old vanilla beans, bitter chocolate bars, roasted hazelnuts, cold Irish coffee, whisky, caramel, touch of salmiak. Sweet onset but not too cloying, softish carb, light umami accent (porcini), full body; malty layers of black chocolate and toasted brown bread are increasingly dominated by a strong, ‘real’, aromatic coffee effect, highlighted by bourbon-like, warming but nowhere too astringent alcohol. Very coffee-forward even for a coffee stout, but also very well made for such a demanding style – I need more from this brewery.

Svart med lys brunt skum. Kjenner mest lukten av vanilje. Så kommer det mørkbrent kaffe. Forholdsvis myk I munnfølelse. Noe tørkede frukter og plomme i tillegg til kaffen og vaniljen. Men også skarp i smaken. Sammen med en god sjokolade blir det helt supert🙂
