At the MBR Sour Beer tasting. Thanks Dassa Gozza! Poured a dark amber/brown body. Funky, mild aroma, slightly sweetish. Extremely light taste, liiight red wine barrel (I guess?), some mild peppery bitterness, slightly tart and extremely light. Did I say it was light? It was. A huge disappointment.

On tap at St. Augustines on Rare Beer Tap Takeover. Copper with beige head. Aroms similar to Flemish ales with cherry, some caramel and bready notes. It is not an original Saison for sure, it is Brown Sour Ale. Pleasant.

Been working my way through cellar’s backlog, my eyes can certainly be bigger than my liver so I have a few. This one was kindly brought up from Buffalo by my sister-in-law for me from Premier. Thanks! (not that she reads this.) Pours a clear maple syrup amber (Canadian Grade #2 to be exact), with a couple of inches of off-white head, that doesn’t lace, it corduroy’s the side of the glass, leaving a foam lump in the middle. (Now that’s foam!) Lovely tangy lacto nose with a mild grape zing, a touch of soap, and some clear cereal malt. The taste is lacking the real meaty sour I was expecting, but screw my expectations, it’s good. Soft fruit flavours balanced with a gentle but pervasive sour bite, caramel malts, and ending with a funk bitterness. Overall really good. That this fella is at a session-level booze is not obvious with all that flavour, and that’s a good thing this bottle is going to go down smooth, and very, very fast.

Hazy brown with an off white head - Malt aroma with some dark fruity tones as well - Roasted malt body with some dark fruity flavour with some dryness as well - The malt goes into the finish - This was good

Ölföreningen 2015. Flaska, 2012 vintage. Smak och doft av humle, malt, karamell, jord med toner av choklad och cederträ. Fruktig, viss syrlighet, lätt kropp, sötma och beska.

Pours a darker brown color, topped with a medium sized off-white head, medium retention. Aroma doesn’t really deliver the promised and expected roastiness, just some hints of it, lost in the sourish wine notes which are easily notable. Taste is mildly sweet upfront, yeasty with a moderate soury wine feel, although not too exaggerated. Nicely enjoyable.
