330 ml bottle. Pours black with short tan head that settles to light foam. Aromas of black coffee, roasted malts and cognac/brandy. Flavors of acidic black coffee, dusty roast malts and the liquor side of cognac. Warm and somewhat thin. Good, but pricey for what is delivered.

330mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out lots of cognac barrels upfront, with loads of wood and medium roast. Flavour is all cognac and wood, with subdued roasted malt. Palate is a little thin and undercarbonated. Woody, slightly boozy finish. Solid stuff but lacking cohesion.

Minimal head and nearly black brown, dark brown, body. Poured into a wineglass for what it’s worth, well hell, I know it ain’t proper but sometimes it’s all you got way out here in the wilderness. The aroma is soft armpit of that buddy of yours who was slogging through the muddy mountain trails last night and is now sleeping next to you in your tent. Gawd he snores loud. I think that’s his dog at your feet, wet from frolicking in the river, yeah, wet animal hair stank on this thing too. Flavour is a lot of smoke, liquid syrup chocolate like that cacao pancake syrup from IHOP you once had in Vegas, soft red wine notes like those Christmas chocolate you always get and chomp down on and all that wine goo spurts out of your mouth so it looks like you’re drooling something nasty. Kind of settles down after a few sips into a strong porter style except it’s eight percent which is probably what a porter needs to not taste like cold watery barley coffee. Smart and pretty well made, but not too complex, probably a good entry point for those unfamiliar with these heavy beers. But I want moar.
