Cask at Beerblefish Brewing Taproom. Pours ruby-black with a tan cap. Aroma: chocolate malts, light coffee, dark fruits. Taste: light to moderate sweet & moderate bitter, rich, roasty, umami, liquorice, vinous, bitter choc. Medium body with fine carbonation. Love trying heritage recipes, and this was nicely done.

Cask at Egham Beer Fest. Aroma has liquorice, espresso, tangy berries. Opaque dark chestnut. Frothy beige head sticks to the rim. Very tangy flava - dark berries and liquorice. Coffee bitter edge. Thin-medium body. Slick. A tad oily. Flat carbonation. Long dry finish. Slips down.

Tap, half-pint shared with Finn at Beerblefish Brewing Taproom. Ruby-black in the glass, a few patches on the surface, dotted spots on the glass. Smoothly roasted aromas of chocolate malts, scent of dark fruits, promising. Malt-forward taste of chocolate and liquorice, joined by dark fruits and berries. Roasted mid-sweet malty ending. Fine depth. Like it. (The Blackhorse Beer Mile, London 21.11.2021).
