Bottle Conditioned. Now on its 25th edition, 2021 is a landmark year for Vintage Ale. At its heart, Pale Ale and Caragold malts combine with DRC®, a Double Roasted Crystal malt, to deliver toffee and raisin sweetness. Turning to hops, we're showcasing younger UK varieties for their luscious fruitiness. Endeavour brings plummy tones, while Olicana® and the as yet unnamed experimental hop CF182 add tropical and orange notes. All complemented, as ever, by the zesty marmalade character of our famous Fuller's yeast.

Bottle at home at the end of a long week. Good pour and everything you would expect from a beer like this. Rich malt, a dash of hops and plenty of alcohol.

Dark fruit, huge, sweet, caramel malts, sherry, very bready, with a very high, pithy bitterness. Really nice, ageing would only sweeten it, and it doesn't need it.

Boxed bottle. I’m guessing Waitrose. Clear deep amber. Impressive swede. Tart vine fruit. Semi sweet biscuit malt. Light oxidation. Taste is sweet up front. Nice tang of fruit bitterness. Rich and slick but stays twangy. Lingering vinous bitterness to finish.

Bottle at Goblet ZG. Hazy red-brown body, off-white head. Somehow fresh, slightly floral prunes and raisins in the aroma, bit minerally, soapy, bit jammy and caramelly. Lean, fresh, yammy, caramelly taste, orange liqueur, some burnt caramel, some dried fruit, vague herbal notes.

0.5 l bottle from 'Craftbeershop.com'. Slightly hazy, deep reddish amber with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, quite fruity, slightly resiny aroma of caramel, raisins, honey, marmalade, apricot, bourbon and a touch of black tea. Rather sweet, malty, gently fruity and a little resiny taste of marmalade, raisins, bourbon, caramel, some honey, a touch of vanilla and traces of spruce, followed by a medium long, moderately bitter, slightly boozy finish. Medium to full body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Lovely ale, a bit more complex than the 2020 version, superbly balanced, moreish. Good variant.

Bottle 107195. Drunk at home. Drunk alongside 2020 and 2023. Malty pepper aroma. I mean I really liked 2020, but this I think is better. More bitter. More pepper. Not as deep or malty as the 2020. That's a hard call. Do you want a deeper malty cake like beer. Or a slightly lighter malt beer. But with better hops bitterness and pepper. OK. Well. I think this vintage is lighter. But what I want from this beer is malty depth Christmas cake etc. So I think 2020 is better than 2021. Good to have it side by side

Hope this is not the last we see of Fuller's in Australia. Bottle. Immaculate looking clear reddish amber with a dense off white head that's never less than a coat. Aroma of marmalade, toast, cherries, toffee. Full bodied. Bittersweet. Somewhere between bread and fruit cake with sherry and brandy notes before emphatic bitterness. Nicely integrated flavours.
