The compelling, exceptional aroma of Citra hops once inspired us to brew a single hop IPA showcasing the character of this variety. Today, still impressed by the tropical and citrus fruit aromas that can be squeezed out of this hop, we give you our Imperial Citra IPA, one of our hoppiest beers.

Nass hopfiger, daraus resultierend etwas muffiger Antrunk. Steigend herb, rundes helles Malz. Sehr trockener Mittelteil, was dem Hopfenaroma gut tut. Langer Nachhall. 10/8/9/9//9

Bottle @ Benzai, medium sample. Slight hazy orange color, short frothy head. Aroma of some caramel and toffee, slight citrussy hop, flowery. Where’s the Citra? Quite sweet in taste, soft bitterness. Feels a bit stale, too malt forward, no fresh fruitiness of Citra. Disappointing.

Bottle @ home shared with Caesar. Hazy a bit rusty pale orange color, average to medium sized off-white head that leaves fair lacing. Aroma is malts, hops, but I’m not really reminded of citra hops. Taste also has malts and hops, but again I’m not really reminded of citra hops. Floral, yeasty, moderately bitter. Decent body and carbonation. Ok beer, but I expected it to be better.

Znakomite Imperial IPA, z genialnym aromatem, konkretne, godne polecenia.

Ciemnozłota barwa, lekko zamglone, piana szybko opadająca. Przyjemny aromat owoców cytrusowych. W smaku podobnie, cytrusy plus lekka ziołowość. Gorycz na wysokim aczkolwiek przyjemnym poziomie. Nasycenie na niskim poziomie. Podsumowując: fajna IIPA.

Keg at Chmieliarnia Twarda, Warsaw. Hazy golden, small head. Huge aroma of pineapple and lychee. Sweet with full body and rounded mouthfeel. Tangerine, passionfruit and lychee. Intensely hoppy and fruity. Sweaty bitter finish. Sweet but filled with fresh hops.

500 ml bottle shared by Werckmeister, thanks!
Dark orange, hazy body, with a quite small, frothy, off-white head.
Aroma of grapefruit, orange, grass, some herbs, even some roasted onion.
Taste follows this, again with the roasted onion and some more biscuit.
Medium, slick mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes bitter, medium dry, zesty, grassy, a bit fruity, a bit malty.

OK, but not really my cup of tea. I don’t like the onion notes and also the grass notes are too dominant for me. Drinks pretty easy for the ABV though. Overall quite the opposite of how I like a DIPA, while not really a bad beer.
