Bottle @ Unibar, Århus. Pours black with a light reddish tone along edges, no head, but leaves laces on the glass. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, toffee, chocolate, coffee, caramel, port. Taste is very complex with bourbon, good ruby port, bitter coffee, raisins, toffee, oak, vanilla, english licorice, each sip adds something new. Full body, very low carbonation, silky mouthfeel, long finish. Overall this is a great beer, a sipper,and a little on the sweet side. 220111

2008 - aged 2 years...Pours deep mahogany into a snifter. No head on vigorous pour, but foam hugs rim. Strong vanilla and oak aromas. Thin with raisins, dates and brandy-soaked pit fruits upfront turning to licorice and vanilla in the dry, lasting finish.

375mL bottle, pours dark reddish brown with a tiny beige head. Aroma of bourbon, smoke / peat, wood, caramel malt, brown sugar - amazing complexity. Flavour is reminiscent of that of a fine brandy - brown sugar, oak, vanilla, and molasses. Almost no carbonation. Definitely a rare treat.

Out of a tulip glass at Rose and Crown in Palo Alto. Pours an opaque black with a big brown head. Sweet, strong bourbon with rich dried fruit on the finish. Alcohol on the mouthfeel, a little burn and nice blanket like covering. In addition to the bourbon and fruit, some roast and chocolate on the finish.

Bottle 2009 vintage thanks to JohnGalt1. Pours out a brown topped with a ring of a head. Aroma was so awesome sweet caramel, vanilla, brandy, and toffee. Taste was more of the barrel lots of vanilla, sweetness, caramel, a little pit fruit, and the alcohol definitely shows through.

Bottle, 2009. Pours a dark, amber-brown with a creamy, beige head. Plenty of sweet malts in the aroma, with wood, alcohol and some ripe fruits. Flavor is very sweet and bold, with caramel, toffee, raisins, some light chocolate. Full-bodied with soft carbonation and vinous texture. Really nice overall. (4.2)

Bottle at THE Barley Wine Tasting, London. This was one of my contributions. Pours dark brown with no head. Sugary aroma, brown sugar, light soy sauce, soy sauce, dark fruits, prunes. Big sweet flavor with some dark malts, massive dark fruits, prunes, figs, dates, light cocoa, brown sugar. Full bodied with soft carbonation. Faintly warming finish with big sweetness, rich brown sugar and toffee, figs and dates. Quite a bit of complexity. Not overly sweet. Quite beautiful and robust (4.2)
