Bottle Hazy brown body, off-white creamy head. Aroma of fruit (cherry, raspberry), wine combined with a strong malt aroma (coffee, etc). Quite subtle and complex aroma. Moderately sweet, lightly bitter flavour, again somewhat winey. Bit out of balance. Flavour can’t keep up with the aroma.

Pours dark brown with a good off-white head.Aroma is a massive coffee hit with chocolate and roasted grains also present. Delicious.Flavours are lacking in depth, there’s lots of sweet malt before the coffee kicks in along with the roasted grains, but the bitterness is incredibly weak. Pleasant enough, just lacking.Good carbonation.

Medium brown. Light head. There’s a coffee note in the nose along with sweet sugars...may be the lactose. The beer is fairly dull in flavour, leaning towards coffee and fudge. As it warms it becomes thin and mildly acidic.

33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Dark brown colour, thin beige head. Aroma of wet coffeepowder, chocolate, some caramel and alcohol. Flavour is black coffee, wet coffeepowder, chocolate. Light bitter finish, coffee flavour lingers. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Coffee flavour is too sharp imo, too much like old cheap coffee.

Bottle 33 CL. Apperance; Dark almost black. Aroma; coffee offcourse, the name made me mabye think of only that. Flavor; Offcourse.........coffee. Allmost like drinking cold coffee.

Cask at Wetherspoons, Victoria 16 Nov 08. Looks like strong coffee. Strong aroma of coffee. No head. Just like plain cold coffee. Not my cup of tea.

Pour is a black with a large tan head. Aroma is the best thing about this beer. A nice dark roasted coffee with some earth and some smoke. Flavor is again mostly a rich coffee with some burnt malts. Finish leaves a biterness on the tounge. Decent enough for a try and the coffee is not super strong as some others i have had.

Very dark brown color. The aroma is indeed nothing else than coffee, not strong, like an American one, and not burnt. The body is light, with a mild coffee flavor, see above, and a very light sour touch; the plus side is that at times it reminds some good dark chocolate. Pleasant.

Pours black with light tan head. Aromas of roasted malts and coffee. Flavor is sour, old coffee with lemon. If this is how it is supposed to taste it is very weird. Medium body with moderate carbonation. This might have been a bad bottle based on some of the other ratings.

cask at JDW edinburgh ...deep deep brown ... nice tight creamy light tan head ... coffee and ligth burnt malts ... nice coffee and roast tiny bit burnt ... the charcoal character builds over time.
