330 bottle purchased when leaving the St Albans BF ’06 and enjoyed at home on a Saturday evening after dinner. Very nice bottle design! Pours a rocky brownish foam over a black red-tinged body. The foam vanished to almost nothing after a while. Well rounded aroma of dark chocolate with a noticeable touch of licorice. Taste of roasted coffee beans supported by a few notes of peppermint and a discreet yeasty bitterness in the ending. Crispy and a bit thin mouthful (11.11.2006).

A pitch black beer with a slight reddish shine when held against a light source, witha dense brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of both coffee and chocolate - with the bitterness that both both bring. The flavor is sweet yet bitter - the bitterness coming from the coffee, which also lends notes of chocolate - dark bitter desert chocolate, more than coming from the hops and the dark roasted malt. But the flavor also has notes of roasted malt and rye bread. The bitterness makes the end dry, and the coffee notes lingers for a long time. Nice.

Bottle. Nice roasted aroma. Black colour, small but stable and creamy light brown head. Thin mouthfeel. The flavour is nice enough, reminding me as much of cold coffee as beer. Long and nice coffee aftertaste. There is also some creaminess to the flavour, a bit like ice cream. This is a good beer, but I cannot help wondering why it is so thin. 7 3 7 3 15

Bottled. Plain light black beer with a brown hue. The aroma is coffee and chocolate and the flavour is initially weak coffee then strong coffee. Overall it is a coffee drink therefore it does would it says on the label, whether it is a beer that will stand the test of time I don’t know.
