[9/26/10] Bottle at a friendโs place in Amsterdam. Deep reddish brown color with a beige head. Powerful coffee aroma with a bit of chocolate and roasted malt. Bittersweet flavor with lots of coffee beans, some chocolate and caramel hints and a dry, bitter, slightly herbal finish. Medium-bodied. Decent.

Appearance: Dark mahogany with a small off-white head and very little lacing in the glass
Aroma: Dried cocoa and coffee
Taste: Thin and watery mouthfeel, but loaded with cocoa and coffee flavors with some bitterness in the finish
A nice beer, full of aroma and flavor but surprisingly very thin mouthfeel.

Bottle @ kloneo. Clear brown colour, almost no head. Aroma is light malted, coffee. Flavour is roasted malts, coffee, with a slight sweet finish. Not impressive.

330ml bottle. Pours cola brown with a beige head. Smells of very sweet coffee and a modest portion of heavily roasted malt with some sour orange notes. Taste is initially sweet (thought not as sweet as it smelled) with with coffee, chocolate and dark sugars. Then nice complex dryness kicks in, with roasty bitterness, some hops and coffee astringency. The finish is dry, long and full of coffee. A bit of ash too. Fairly light body and quite sharp carbonation. Has faults, but the complex taste is balanced and full of character.

Bottle: Clear, ruby-amber coloured, smaller - quite stable - off-white head; distintive roast-malty nose and aromas of freshly ground coffee in the nose; moderate dry bitter-sweet flavour, relatively light bodied; coffee powder in the malty and bitter finish. Not bad, but not my cup of tea......

Poured a clear dark amber color ale with a large enough head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry coffee is quiet pleasant with light roasted malt notes also noticeable. Taste is also dominated by coffee with a dry aftertaste that is well balance with the light roasted caramel malt. Body is surprisingly quite light with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Interesting beer with great notes of coffee but lacking a solid malt backbone.
