A hybrid beer unlike any other. Belgian fermentation, American hops, Virginia foothills deep-well water and Kentucky bourbon barrels. Bizarrely delicious.

350ml bottle thanks to Matt. Pours out a honey amber topped with a long lasting white head. Aroma spice, pit fruit, barrel, and some belg yeats. Taste of plum, tropical fruit, spice, and a little heat on the end.

On tap @ Mudville 9. A clear deep dark almost bronze/copper colored one with a small quickly sidesticking just off-white top. Light and mild on the nose, hard to get any specific aroma here. Think I'll have to wait a while for the beer to settle. Soft malty tones with a little bit of sweetness. Some red allows perhaps and a hint of red berries. Fair non extreme. Taste is much more present though. Almost a little sticky oily on the mouthfeel and the carbonation is below average. A little trace of something fruity in the taste. Hard to pinpoint really, but I'm really enjoying the beer. Lacks perhaps a bit of bitterness in the whole experience. Opened up after a while with floral traces. 20.06.2013

750 ml bottle into tulip glass; best before June 2014 on the cork. Pours fairly hazy deep reddish orange color with a nice 2-3 finger foamy and fluffy cream colored head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of lemon, orange zest, grapefruit, apple, pear, floral, grass, pepper, light clove, light oak, wheat, and floral earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of yeast and hop notes with slight barrel presence. Taste of lemon, orange zest, grapefruit, apple, pear, pepper, clove, floral, grass, light pine, wheat, and earthy yeast spiciness. Lingering notes of citrus, light fruits, pepper, clove, floral, grass, light pine, wheat, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance and complexity of yeast and hop flavors; with a great balance of malt, hop, and spicy ester notes with zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a fairly creamy and moderately crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Belgian strong pale ale. All around nice balance and complexity if hop, yeast, and malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on. Even though the stated barrel aging presence was minimal, it wasn’t really a determining factor for me with this style. A very enjoyable offering.

Purchased at Corks & Kegs in Richmond, VA; enjoyed at a friends house during a warm spring evening. I didn't take notes on this one, but I remember the sweetness of the bourbon really coming through in this one with light clove notes. Good stuff.

From a 75 cl bottle shared in Avon NC. Pours a cloudy cider color with a quickly dissipating white head. Melon and citrus aroma. Flavor of melon, hints of oak, and Belgian yeast. Crisp finish.

750ml bottle @Paul’s Blind Stout tasting-lt tan head with trailing lace-hazy amber. A-med malt, zest, yeast. T-spice-ginger?, med malt, yeast, zest. Interesting. No bourbon that I could detect clearly.

Bottle thanks to Andy! Pours a clear amber with a grayish head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has earthy grains and grass with a bit of green apple, bourbon and a bit of a metallic note. Flavor starts with light grass and sweet grains but finish has some bourbon and vanilla.

Bottle thanks to ksurkin: Poured a orange copper/rusty color with a huge off white fluffy head. Aroma is yeasty, bread, caramel malts, and some hops. Taste is a mix of medicinal fruit, yeast, some woodsy flavor as well. Leaves the tongue tingly.
