Heavy on the coffee and the chocolate, great sweet porter.

500ml bottle [courtesy of Grumbo - cheers Graham!]. Quasi black colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Roasty dark malty aroma with notes of coffee, mocha, dark chocolate and a minimally artificial touch of toffee and milk chocolate. Taste is dry, roasty dark malty, notes of coffee, mocha, some dark chocolate, a touch of dark toffee, moderately bitter and minimally metallic, hoppy overtones; lingering, bitter, roasty finish. Watery texture, dry palate, very fine, soft carbonation. Quite thin, more flavourful in the nose, in return without artificial touch in taste - OK.

Ty grumbo. Instant coffee and chocolate, nice dryness, decent body for abv. Nice hoppiness also. Good stuff. 3.8.

Tap at the brewery. A dark black mahogany brown coloured pour with a sticky tan head. Aroma is powdered sweet milk chocolate, cocoa, artificial.. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, chocolate malts, bitter roast, liquorice, roast Black malts. Palate is semi sweet, bit bitter, moderate carbonation, light tang.

19/4/2019. On draught at the Briarbank, Ipswich. Pours very dark brown with a creamy off-white to beige head. Aroma of light coffee, roasted malt, chocolate and dark fruit. Medium sweetness, moderate roasted bitterness. Moderate body, sticky texture, quite fizzy which was surprising and offputting. Disappointing.
