Can at home, from Buxton online, 28/11/20. Pitch black with a big old tan cap that stays for the show ... full glass lacing ensues ... a real looker of a beer. Nose is chocolate biscuit, dark malts, light spice, toffee melt, sweet notes, mellow barrel. Taste comprises bitter sweet chocolate, whiskey kissed oak, brown sugar melt, light spice, hint of dried fruits, liquid cacao, molasses, faint smoke. Full bodied, fine massaging carbonation, light drying close with a balanced rising level of alcohol. Drinks super easy for 12% ... great balance, never too sweet, subtle rye, smooth mouthfeel. Top top draw BA impy.

Can from the Buxton brewery webshop, Buxton, Derbyshire UK. Had this at home Wednesday 11th November 2020 whilst listening to Marc Riley on 6Music. We had a Chilli con Carne with all the trimmings. Pours dark, oily, shark eye black with a mid sized tan head. Super smooth and indulgent in the mouth but lets calm down Finster, the aroma.is great too, the barrel ageing offers up whisky aromas, leather a little burnt tobacco and chocolate. It's really smooth and yes again indulgent, sweet dark bitter chocolate, a light booziness, thick in the mouth, dark fruits sit at the back. This is a marvellous beer, Buxton have these single barrel beers and now have just released the Masters series, mmhh....it's fair to say they really are back with a bang.

330ml can. Buxton online. Pours slick and thick. Sits black and moody. Fine tan head is leggy and lacing. Nose has dark chocolate and liquorice. Some hedgerow fruit. Sweet barrel. Some leather and a whiff of smoke. Taste is sticky sweet, with a fruity, slightly chewy, smoky bitterness. Slick and super smooth on the palate. Easy drinks under the ABV. Soft carbonation. Slick and rich, soft smoke bitterness to finish. Awesome.
