330ml bottle from the brewery. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a very short-lived, fizzy tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, big dry oak, boozy alcohol. The flavour is over moderate sweet, with a rich, very dry, oaky, tannic, red berry fruit, light coffee, warm boozy alcohol bitter palate. Over medium bodied with lively initial carbonation. Nice and very moreish but a little light for a big beer and over carbonated. The oak really dominates too and as much as I like oaky beers it was too much. I really enjoyed this but it’s unbalanced and far behind it’s competitors.
