This big robust cookie porter is rammed full of just about everything you’d want to find in a boisterous imperial beer. Lactose and oats aid a silky mouthfeel, maple syrup brings sugar complexity and vanilla elevates the cookie profile further. You’ll be bombarded with wave after wave of indulgent chocolate and rich dark malts from the complex malt backbone. Fantastically balanced and perfect for a beer float.

330ml can. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of vanilla, chocolate, maple syrup. Taste is sweet, chocolate, vanilla, maple syrup, lactose, roast malts giving some bitterness, well balanced in that regard. Medium-full body, smooth and creamy, soft carbonation. Delicious.

Draft at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours black with a nice cappuccino foam, very fine. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, vanilla. Body is pretty dense, with delicate carbonation. Nice and velvety. Taste is intensely dense, balanced by some bitterness. Finish is a little disappointing, I would have expected a longer one.

On tap at Electric Bear, Bath, Saturday 10th November 2018 in the company of Isobel and Berry Pours black with a creamy textured cappuccino coloured head. Smooth and creamy, a nice gentle warmth a touch of vanilla and then milk chocolate. In fact there is plenty of chocolate here, it's really nice. A7 A5 T8 P4 Ov16. 4.0

Can to à glass. Pours black, with a small layer of tanned head. Smell is roasty, tad sweet but no clearly recognizable maple syrup or vanilla just yet. Taste is sweet, thick, roasty malts, very mild maple syrup toward the back ( it does build up by the aftertaste). Vanilla stays hidden. Lactose is recognizable to those who are aware, but Def not overkill. Thick body, médium low Carbo. Mild bitterness. These adjuncts sound very nice, but are a great addition to an unbalanced beer ( hence, extremely thick, almost no Carbo, and straight up sweet) to me. This base beer might very well be better on it's own, in comparably to the basebeer of what I prefer, since it has more balance ( by the bitter touch etc) but in the final, adjunct style product, the bitterness gets in the way for the adjuncts to fully rise. So does the carbonation, which is relatively low, but higher than the 'close to zero' I'm talking about. A good beer, just not what I had hoped for.

Cask-conditioned at the Gryphon, Bristol 13/6/2018. Dark brown in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. Molasses, milk chocolate, vanilla oak, leafy hops, toasted porridge oats, a creamy edge and gentle finish, with a warming after taste. Ridiculously drinkable for the ABV and a great piece of brewing.
