Halfway between our breweries puts us somewhere in the Rockies – a place that gives us all a sense of comfort and expansion and, oddly, belonging. Kind of like a beer like this – an old-school West Coast IPA. A little darker, a little more bitter, and oh-so drinkable. Grab one and grab a spot on a deck or patio and take it all in.

16oz @ Alex's shared with Farees. Appearance: a bit hazy golden with a white head. Aroma: lots of candy like caramel, sugared oranges. Taste: along the same lines with some vegetable character. Overall: meh.

Poured from the tap. Slightly hazy orangey gold with small white head. Grapefruit hops, subdued caramel malt, a bit of resin finish. Decent.

473ml can. Pours a slightly hazy copper with a medium, creamy, long lasting, off-white head that leaves soapy curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, orange peel, grapefruit and piney hops. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, orange peel, grapefruit, pine resin and spicy hops in a dry, bitter finish. Medium body with a smooth, oily texture and average carbonation. A classic Westie.
