It was believed a town like Legend, AB, would be around forever -- until its sudden yet inevitable demise early last century. The last grain elevators came down decades later, nearly wiping out any and all remnants of the place. Visitors to the ghost town only rarely ask about the townspeople. Did they die with the town? The truth is lost to time but most choose to believe they packed up and left, attempting to preserve the best traits of the place, to savour the legacy, and moved on to bigger, and dare we say, better things.
Legend's concentrated malt flavours and aromas of toffee, rich light caramel, fresh biscuits and roasted nuts combine with intense plum, raisin and sweet fruit esters to resemble a Christmas cake. Aged in bourbon barrels to develop spicy grain, honey and vanilla oak characters that provide complexity and a lingering warmth on the tongue. Heavier dishes to compete with the overall flavours – glazed lamb chops/pork chops/ham, thick & sharp risotto, charcuterie, Christmas cake! Best served with just a glass and a fireplace in our opinion.

650ml bottle. Pours a hazy orange-amber with a medium, creamy, short lived, tan head that laces. Sweet aroma of bready caramel malt, toffee, fig, date, vanilla and floral hops. Sweet flavour of bready caramel malt, toffee, fig, cherry, vanilla, baked red apple, cinnamon and floral hops in a dry, warming booze finish. Full body with a sticky, oily texture and soft carbonation. Malt forward with some complexity. This has aged well.
