Walking the Earth during the Cretaceous period 79.5 million years ago, the ‘Reaper of Death’ claimed the Canadian Badlands of Southern Alberta. It is the oldest known tyrannosaurid on record in northerly North America. ‘Thanatotheriste’, Greek for ‘Reaper of Death’ was recently discovered in the Bow Valley River west of Medicine Hat, and is now proudly situated at the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller.

Inspired by the vicious meat eating dinosaur, known for its serrated teeth and monstrous face, MH Brew Co Brewmaster Mitch and Valley Brewing Brewmaster Nick created this monster of a beer. Generously double dry hopped with an incredible amount of Azacca Idaho 7 and Sabros Cryo Hops (Lupulin enriched) to give this brew amazing hop flavour and aroma. Hopheads and dinophiles rejoice!

On tap at Medicine Hat Brewing, pours a hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is mega-dank, with lots of dank, herbal hops, some resins, and stone fruit pith. Flavour is extremely dank, sort in the middle of a west and east coast IPA, with huge pot-like hops, some herbal notes, stone fruit pith, and sweet caramel malt. Low hoppy bitterness on the residual end. Massive dankness on the finish. A little harsh and overboard, but it's decently well-made.

473ml can. Pours a hazy yellow-gold with a medium, foamy, long lasting, white head that laces nicely. Sweet, fruity aroma of grainy pale malt, peach, cantaloupe, pineapple, mango, grapefruit and earthy yeast. Sweet fruity flavour of pale malt, peach, mango, cantaloupe, pineapple, grapefruit, earthy yeast, light alcohol and a hint of coconut in a dry, mild bitter, hoppy finish. Medium body with a smooth, oily texture and average carbonation. Well balanced and juicy. ABV is well hidden. Nicely done.
