In Prohibition Era Alberta, Whiskey Gap was a town known for its nefarious characters and sinister transactions. The law could do nothing but look the other way, or in most cases, find a way to get in on the action. As time wore on, gail force winds took their toll on Whiskey Gap, leaving little to be remembered. All that remains are its skeletons that once ran booze across the river.

Whiskey Gap is a bold, deep red, single batch beer crafted specifically for APB’s 3rd Anniversary. It is best described as an English Strong Ale fermented with a Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot/Shiraz grape must. Local Bar M Whiskey by Rig Hand Distillery was added after fermentation and we have conditioned the beer for 6 weeks on American Medium Toast new oak.

473ml can. Pours a slightly hazy dark red-amber with a small, fizzy, short lived, tan head that leaves spotty lacing. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, oak, whiskey, red wine and light peat. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, red wine, dark fruit, brown sugar and oak in a peaty whiskey finish that burns. Full body with a thin texture and average carbonation. Hold on to your hats folks, this is a big boy beer that will blow your hair back! Pretty smooth for the elevated ABV, but a little thin for the style.
