Harvest Moon Brewing Loch and Lode

Loch and Lode

Harvest Moon Brewing in Belt, Montana, United States 🇺🇸

  Scottish Ale Regular
Score
6.28
ABV: 6.0% IBU: - Ticks: 3
A full-bodied brew that is slightly sweet with a hint of smoke. It is in the “wee heavy” category of Scottish Ales (6% alcohol). The brew is caramelized by boiling a bit longer which darkens the color and creates extra unfermentable sugars, adding to its slightly sweet character. This ale has a rich mouth-feel, a malty flavor and aroma, and low hop character.

16oz can. Pretty harsh aroma...stale 70s basement, rotten caramel, spoiled raisin..actually improves a pinch as it breaths some. Cheap, odd mouthfeel. Most of the Harvest Moon beers I've had have been bad, and this is no exception. Sweet and gross, really poor quality stuff. Not sure why they would make this. Avoid unless you really want a tick...but there is no way a 16oz serving of this is desirable.

Tallboy can from Brennan’s Brookfield. Dark copper, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of toffee, caramel, earth. The taste is toffee, pine, earth, caramel, cherries. Medium bodied. Solid.

473ml can. (6.0% ABV) Pours a hazy copper with a small, short lived, beige head that dissipates to an outer ring which laces. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, caramel, dark fruit and bread. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, toffee, roast, biscuit and a hint of smoke in a mildly bitter finish. Medium body with a smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Not bad.
