2016 bottle shared at Your Old Droog Cellar Blast. Thanks to whoever brought this one. Pours a deep brown with a small tan head that dissipates quickly. Nose of coffee, chocolate and light oak. Oxidization is clearly present on the nose and palate. Muted bourbona and chocolate notes with cardboard. Finishes balanced, but not much depth. A touch better than the 2015 but fairly oxidized #DrinkItNowDACBE

Taster pour at bottle share -- thanks Chalumeaux! (2016 vintage). Appearance is dark brown with no sparkle, thin cap of beige head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is really nice bourbon. Taste is bourbon/alcohol with background toasted malts. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with thick, smooth texture, average-to-lively carbonation and finish as taste with some pleasant alcohol warmth. Overall, tasty but not terribly complex. Over carbonated.

Bottle thanks to my mom! Pours black with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of strong dark grains, roasted malts, bourbon and bitter coffee that gives a hint of green pepper. Flavor is sweet with bourbon and sweet dark grains with growing bitter coffee through the finish.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled in 11/2015. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1 finger dense dark brown head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big dark roasted coffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, molasses, bourbon, toasted oak, light coconut/dark fruit, and oak/roasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt, coffee, and bourbon barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark roasted coffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, molasses, bourbon, toasted oak, light coconut/dark fruit, and oak/roasted earthiness. Light roasted bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of coffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, molasses, bourbon, toasted oak, light coconut/dark fruit, and oak/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt, coffee, and bourbon barrel flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and slightly slick/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is an outstanding barrel aged imperial coffee stout. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt, coffee, and bourbon barrel flavors; and very smooth and easy to sip on for the huge ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.
