A collaboration brew with Witchfinder General guitarist Phil Cope. It’s dark and heavy - just like the band!

8/8/2025. Cask at GBBF 2025. Very good pour. Aroma is malted, roasted, burnt toffee, camp coffee, dried fruits, ashy edge. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Medium body, quite smooth, soft carbonation. Quite liked this.

Cask at GBBF 25. Opaque brown. Frothy foamy beige head. Aroma has sweet edged berries with coffee granules. Flavourwise it has coffee and berries and really big intrusive bitter quinine streak. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. Way too bitter and unbalanced.

Bottle from Hop Vault, Stourbridge, online. Pours a very dark brown, small beige head, some retention. Aroma of coffee, roasted malts, some liquorice. Taste is the same, very roasty with coffee and liquorice. Not getting much dark fruit notes. Slightly north of medium bodied, chewy. Dark and heavy it certainly is but on its own that doesn't make a great beer. Needs something more. Not bad but a below average porter for me.
