Sampled from a 0.75l bottle @ Gaasa. What an amazing aroma! Sweet raisins, lots of sherry, sticky glazed apples, tons of nuts, so caramelized and concentrated! Been a while since I've nosed such a fantastic aroma as this. It's a bit mead like in a way. Floral touches - like in the aroma. Lots of honey, wood, alcohol and it manages to be stinging in a mild way. Just a plain old really tasty one! Would not mind having this again! And that aroma? 01.03.2013

From a corked bottle at Open Baladin, Roma 09/02/13. Murky chestnut brown with no head. Nose is dark fruits, dates, light smoke, almond, dank wood. Taste comprisesdark cherries, wood, varnish, burnt toffee, dates, prunes. Full bodied, minimal carbonation almost flat, warming alcohol in the finish. A very good barley wine where the alcohol is well integrated.

Dark amber colour, hazy, still. Aroma of malt and wood, mild earthiness. Smooth and sweet; rich malt flavour, with notes of caramel and toffee (this is better, richer than Lune); there’s a mild earthy note, not too distracting, possibly a sign of age; mild astringency from the barrels, but not a sharp vinous character; in that, it’s a good thing that the wine is not overpowering.
Excellent.

The aroma shows a bit of oxidisation, similarities with the good British Barley Wines like Thomas Hardy's and J.W. Lees; sweet, soft, luscious, rich; the flavor seems to gain some more interest, the wine presence is an excellent cherry on top.
Delicious.

The aroma offers notes of cocoa beans and chocolate. Good malt flavor with an interesting chocolate character, moderate sweetness, low bitterness, very light vinous touch, warming alcohol feeling.
Today, buch better than Lune.

Dark amber color, hazy. Malt aroma, with some ripe fruits, and light glue; oxidised; more dynamic than the aroma of Lune, but also suspicious. Strong body, the lack of carbonation creates a round mouthfeel; sweet without exaggeration; complex flavor, with malt, nuts, a touch of smoke, light sourness from the wine; it hides the alcohol better than the Lune; the final is bitter with some alcohol warmth.
Very good, more interesting than Lune, but not as special as some of the Xyauyú.

Bottle sampled @ Quintessence 2012. With some fine chocolate caviar served alongside. Aged on Italian red wine. Whiskey sized pour of a completely flat, not the slightest inkling of a head of a brandy looking liquid - colour me impressed. Smell is very sweet caramel mixed with dark sugar, liqueur, honey, dark fruits, wood. Taste is slick, bit thick, oily goodness, caramel, toff, liqueur, concentrated caramelized sugar, maple light dark fruits leading in a lightly woody and vinous finish. I liked this one even more than the already exceptional Baladin Xyauyù Barrel - even rounder, slicker - mighty fine stuff.

Bottle sample @ Cantillon Quintessence 2012.

Looks for all the world as brandy. Cognac, liqueur, vinous. Some fusels, sweet, muscat (the Nelson Sauvin?). Liqueurwine with a bitterish tanninerich finish. Sweet, fruity character, the last as cherries on alcohol. Furious alcoholheat. Not really full bodied, but slick, viscous as none. Wow. This is a truly great one, Teo!

Clear dark amber to watered down cola coloured beer, small head, dissipates immediately. Aroma: BANG! Explosion of aromas! Whisky, bourbon, hazelnuts, caramel, bit sugary, madeira, alcohol, lots of vanilla, wood. MF: no carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet start, tastes very aged all right! Orange peel, caramel, sugary, vanilla, madeira, some walnuts, toast. Aftertaste: sugar, caramel, lots of vanilla, bourbon, orange peel. An amazing beer!
