A clear dark brown ale with a thin ring mocha head. In aroma, brown sugar, dark stewed plums, light soy umami, alcohol warmth. In mouth, a smooth clean sweet nutty malt with vanilla, alcohol warmth, molasse and maple, quite nice. Bottle at Mondiale 2012 , June 9 2012.

500 ml bottle @ Patricks. Another amazing beer. Slightly hazy amber, oily body with no head. Aroma has dry fruit like raisins, caramel and pleasant alcohol. Flavor is sweet, very sweet, but balancing with alcohol, dry fruit, raisins, caramel and sherry. Moderate bitterness. Full body and delicious aftertaste. Another fantastic beer from Le Baladin.

Weicher trockener und malziger Beginn, ausgewogen, deutlich Süßer als das Lune, süßer werdend. Malzig weich, wobei die Malznoten vordergründig erscheinen. Trocken, sehr weich – gut! /11/12/10//11

bottle at Patricks. brown colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is red wine, alcohol, malt, spices, dried fruits. Flavour is sugar, red wine, alcohol, spices, dried fruits, oxidation. Full body. Very nice beer.

Bottle, at Patricks. An almost clear one, dark amber in color and without head. Oily. The aroma is oxidized, lightly warming and caramel-ish. Dried fruits too. Apricots mostly. According to the label it seems it has been spending some time on red wine barrels, I won’t argue on that. Warming, oily and full-bodied. Lasting flavor with some alcohol, caramel, oxidation, a touch of dried apricots and something vinous. A strange one, sort of starting boring, but it turns out to be a really pleasant one. From Open Baladin. Pours clear and golden brown with no head. Aroma is dense malty, light oxidised and dark caramelish to malty. Thick malty, light wooden and mixed caramelish, breadish and liqourice. Toasted and dense malty finish.

08/03/2012 Open Baladin Roma (10cl tasting). Bellissimo color ambrato carico, con riflessi tra il miele e il rame, limpido, schiuma assente. Versato dalla bottiglia ha un caratteristico aspetto vinoso e forma numerosi archetti sulla superficie interna del bicchiere. Aroma intenso, fruttato, note ossidate, ricorda un vino fortificato dolce. In bocca è dolce, fruttato, zuccheroso, morbido. Corpo medio, consistenza vellutata, oleosa, liscia, alcol ben nascosto. Rispetto alla "sorella" Lune mi ha convinto meno, resta comunque un gran bel barley wine, delicato e morbido come pochi altri.

Fra flaske på Cardinal i møte med Teo Musso: 1års lagring på ulike rødvinsfat og tilegnet hans 30 vinproduserende venner. 20% svart ris (!). Ingen karbonering. Svisker, rosiner, sherry og mye mer i lange baner og med en ettersmak som varte over bybrua. Bærer sine 12% med den største eleganse.Blant det beste jeg noensinne har smakt!

Bottle 500ml.Light unclear dark amber red colour with virtually no head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel,, erathy, red wine, grape, tobacco, cask wood, oak. Flavour is heavy sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a long duration, iodine, caramel, wood, smoke - turf. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is flat, finish feel is light to moderate alcoholic. [20120324]

Bottled, thanks fiulijn! Pours viscous hazy copper/mahogany colour. Vinous caramelly nose. Very sweet with full body and soft mouthfeel. Spunn sugar, molasses and red wine. More intense than complex. The wonderfully soft mouthfeel enhances the experience. Warming soothing finish.
