The First release in our “New Orthodox” IPA series, M-43 is designed to accentuate the deep and complex character from the combination of Calypso, Amarillo, Citra, and Simcoe hops. Citrus and Tropical notes of Pineapple, Mango and Grapefruit come through in the huge, yet surprisingly delicate aroma. The flavor backs these aromas with a soft, pillowy mouthfeel. Hop bitterness is not particularly intense, which leads to a very drinkable, juicy IPA even non-IPA fans love. The Haze is not from yeast, but rather from an interplay of lipids from the malted oat and oils and acids which naturally occur in the hand selected Dry hops. This beer is a perfect interplay between top grade malt and hops, MI water and brewing technique which cannot be faked.

More from the backlog... Pours hazy pale yellow. It has a very citrusy aroma with grapefruit and orange. The flavor is sweet and citrusy with a hoppy finish. There’s grapefruit, orange, and hop resin. Medium body. It’s quite good but I’m not convinced it’s $9 a pint good.

Can from other Chris: pours hazy orange with white head. Aroma is orange and some tropical fruit. Taste is herbal and fairly bitter. The fruitiness of the nose does not come through as well as it ought. Middling.

Can (2/26/20) pour from Worldwide Wine & Spirits. Appearance is opaque dark yellow-light brown with nice sparkle at the edges of the glass, 2-finger width rocky foam white head with good retention and trace lacing. Aroma is strong tropical fruit and citrus. Taste is moderately strong tropical fruit, tangy citrus, late mild tart yeast. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with smooth, somewhat watery texture, average carbonation and mostly sweet with mild tart and lingering bitter finish. Overall, nice look, decent strength to aroma and taste, though not terribly complex, but a little watery in the texture vs. the stalwarts of the style. Good but don't think deserving of that high an average rating.

16 oz. can in a trade with tfontana, thanks for the opportunity! Canned 02/26/20. Typical hazy IPA appearance. Aroma shows mild apricot, herbs, bready malt. Flavor of melon, apricot, and soft herbal bitterness. At only 6.8% I detect alcohol. Just average for me.
