Sample from bottle during a 'bierproeverij' at Remko's place. Didn't take any notes, just enjoyed good beers and good company. Ok Tripel, not as sweet as a lot of other Tripels are, fortunately.

Aroma of malts, fruits, yeast, spices. Flavour is malty, sweetness, herbal, with light hop bitterness in the finish. Not bad, not very special.

33 cl bottle poured, from De Bierkoning. Thanks! Bright golden orange pour, patchy head. Listed at 8.1% Sweet nose to this, with notes of honey, belgian yeast, floral character, and orange fruit. Rich notes carry over to flavor, but not to the point where this tripel tastes as strong as it is. A honey like sweetness and linger, with a more dense body, and gentle bitterness late. Fun and enjoyable tripel here.

Bottle 33cl. @home poured into a chalice. Clear medium amber colour, small frothy off-white head, quickly diminishing, no lacing. Aroma sweet malts, caramel, alcohol, coriander, candy sugar. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, grain, caramel, candy sugar, alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation, malty sweetbitter aftertaste, rather coarse impression, cardboard, lingering burnt caramel, boozy feeling, nice. --- Beer aliased from original tick of Saense Tripel on 21 Aug 2014 at 14:27 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7.5 | Flavor - 7.5 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7.5. Original review text: Hazy to cloudy straw colour, a lot of bubbles, small frothy white head, good retention and lacing. Fruity nose, rich aroma of apricot, tropical fruits, orange peel, wheat, yeasty, coriander, lemon grass. Taste is light sweet, medium bitter, wheaty, fruity. Medium to full body, oily texture, lively carbonation, mild bittersweet finish, fruity notes, alcohol well-hidden. Nice and tasty, not a middle of the road tripel.
