My bottle says Fire. As in Fire, not Spitfire, but the ABV is the same, so there it is. Bought from Halftime before last year ended and brought out now in its 9.6 oz offered presence. A globe glass catches the pour, yeah, it is black. And there is a decent light tan skim that survives for some time. I smell, chocolate to a reduced degree, a bit of coal and berries. A drink now, well, that is a bit unusual. I comment first on the thinness, it jumps out at me. A bit of sweetness, grain, hay and syrup. Not impressed, I anticipated something more.

Bottle, shared by solidfunk. Pours black. Prune, raspberry, chocolate, booze, strong booze. Medium body. Solidly mediocre.

Shared by solidfunk: blackish with beige head. Aroma is cheap chocolate and molasses. Lightly boozy. Pretty sweet OK.

Black with a large foamy brown head that lingered. Sweet and toasty with cola, malt and a hint of cocoa. Long finish. Moderately full bodied and smooth.

Pours black with a thick creme-colored head. Aroma of sweetened malt, caramel. Taste has molasses, sweetened caramel, sickly malted barley sweetness. Palate has burnt malt, some oily elements. Eh.

Lots of booze and some sweetened licorice. Black pour with ok head. Syrupy consistency. Very sweet on finish. Regular Dragon Stout far superior. Bottle in Mobay.

Bottle enjoyed in a bar in the port area of St. John’s, Antigua. Label is Dragon Stout XXTRA but other than the word ’xxtra’ replacing ’spitfire’ on the label, the label is other wise identical as is the beer style, 10% ABV and 250ml bottle size so this appears to be one and the same beer. Poured a deep dark brown color with a small tan colour head. Aroma of roasted chocolcate, nutty caramel, molasses, dark fruit and alcohol to match its ABV. Quite sweet, oily texture, medium body, minimal carbonation. One of the best beers sampled during two Caribbean holiday’s.

250ml bottle poured into a snifter. Pours black with a half finger of dark tan head. Aroma of dark fruits, powdered coco and a little oak. Taste is sweet. Cold yoo-hoo, dark fruits, a little oak. No sign of the 10% alcohol. Medium bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Soft carbonation and a long finish. Overall, very good. I wish I could find this around me because I would love to drink it every day.
