Humuloid is the natural extension of our Lupuloid, a double IPA with plenty of wheat and oats for a rich body, and fermented with Vermont yeast to lend it some fruitiness. Low bitterness in the boil, but then dry hopped with 18 g/l of Citra and Azacca for huge hoppy aromatics balancing out the sweetness of the finishing gravity.
Malt: Golden Promise, Golden Naked Oats, Wheat, Flaked Oats, Dextrin, Acidulated
Yeast: Wlp 4000 (Vermont)
Hops: Columbus, Citra, Azacca

Can at home, 16th June 17. Pours a grey orange murky mess. Aroma is massive tropical fruit, nice. Taste is sweet, slightly sickly, lakes bitterness, loads of milky tropical fruit, slight bitter finish. It’s OK, bit below the current standard set at the moment.

Can. Looks like soup it’s so hazy. Nose is mango, tropical fruit. Taste is tropical fruit, big pineapple, cream, peach, sweet mango. It’s a cheerful new England DIPA but no more than that.

Can. Another can on the 7th. Cloudy orange - gold beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is light and fairly dry. Good fine carbonation. Light malts, sweetish. Touch of dextrose sweetness. Tangerine and mango and good spicy orange. Lots of hop spice. Some bitterness developing. Pink and yellow grapefruit. Finishes with a real hop sting. Lovely stuff. The second can was so much better than the first and I’m finding that more common with these super hoppy UK DIPAs, they do need a few days in the fridge.

330ml can from Ales by Mail. BBE 24/08/17. Pours very cloudy yellowish orange with a smooth white head. Aroma of juicy citrusy fruits, tropical notes, pine, herbal notes, hints of dankness and grass. Taste is sweetish, juicy fruity and fresh hoppy with loads of citrus, grass, tropical and herbal notes, hints of pineapple and stuffy wheaty notes. Finish is a bit stuffy and sweetish with some fruits, pineapple, ripe tropical notes and hints of herbal hops. A bit unbalanced and slightly stuffy NE DIPA. Still good, though.
