500 ml bottle, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 4.1% (the cask version is 4.3%). Dark reddish brown colour, nearly black. Moderate beige head. Aroma of medium roast malts, dark bread, burnt sugar, chocolate and mild coffee. Slightly dry flavour with the same elements, and moderate earthy hops in the finish. Nice beer.

Pleasant colour, brown with ruby flashes, with beige foam. Aroma of slightly burnt malt, slight dryness from dark chocolate, fruity and melanoid accents. Delicate, malty taste, a bit of burnt bread crust, dried fruits add sweetness and sourness, dryness from chocolate and coffee, slight earthy bitterness on the finish, extremely drinkable.

Very deep brown with mahogany highlights. Creamy tan head. Toasted malt, chocolate, light roasted notes, earthy, light spice, a hint of molasses. Medium bodied with subtle but present carbonation. A very nice beer.

Note: I added this beer as there was only the cask version. Admins please feel free to merge the two. 500ml bottle from Morrisons, online. Pours black with moderate sized beige to tanned head Big caramel aromas but also quite sweet and chocolate noted. Taste is quite mellow and easily drinkable. Caramel, light roast, chocolate comes through with some grassy bitterness. Light bodied, medium carbonation. Nice although lacks something on the pale ale version.

Bottle. Black/dark brown with a decent light brown head. Aroma of malts, cookies, caramel fudge and butter. Taste of malts, milk chocolate, toffee, caramel, minerals and some liquorice finishing off tangy and fruity (say red berries and lemons). Comparatively strong bitterness. Medium carbonation. Neat.
