In 1810, the Oktoberfest tradition was born when Munich celebrated the Crown Prince’s wedding with a special beer and 16 day party. Our version of this classic style blends rich malts for a hearty, smooth flavor with notes of caramel creating a brew that’s perfect for the season, or whatever you’re celebrating.

[7 Sept 2010] 12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear, dark copper color with a small tan head that fades away quickly. The nose is floral hops, caramel, and toast, with hints of spices. The flavor is well balanced. While it is very sweet, the bitterness of the hops is very noticeable. The palate is syrupy and sticky, but not too heavy. The carbonation is significant, and lighten the feel. Overall, a smooth and flavorful beer, easy to drink, but not boring.
[16 Nov 2017] Rerate from draft. Pours a clear, orange color, with a big, foamy, tan head. The nose is caramel, brown sugar, and a bit of pine. Very sweet, with not much hop balance. Medium body, syrupy, and sticky. An overly sweet, simple beer. Not bad, though.

(Bottle at Hilpeä Hauki) This bottle was too old. I wonder why it took so long before the beer became for sale. Beer poured reddish brown and almost clear. Head was medium sized and white. Aroma contained malts, hops and carboard. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, molasses, carboard, sweetness, mildly hops and medium bitterness. Aftertaste was malty and bitter.

Bottle. Amber with a small white head. Aroma of malt, fruits and toffee. Quite sweet flavor with a light bitter finish. An ok beer but nothing sensational, little on the thin side.

This beer looked better than it tasted. I only had one, but there was a definite off-note, a toned down sour grain note. I did use it to swallow a vitamin (I imagine my mother shuddered for no apparent reason when that happened), but that wasn’t until three quarters through the glass. The carbonation is pleasant and the beer has a good dryness, but I’m put off by the off note. That sounded a bit repetitive.

Bottle. Pretty good Oktoberfest. Pours a light brown with a thin white head. Malty nose with notes of sweet toffee and autumn vegetables. Flavor is tasty if somewhat mild. Mostly malt character with some off-setting hop bitterness. Pretty clean finish. Perhaps slightly above average for its category.

355ml bottle, pours a clear and deep, dark amber body. Fading white head. Smell of earthy malts with notes of lactose behind. Malt-fruity taste with apricots and leafy hops. Mid-sweet. Dry palate. To my liking (shared with Finn, Tromsø 01.12.2009).

Refrigerated bottle poured into a glass. It pours a nice amber with a little off-white head that dissapates quickly. The taste is malty, caramel and toffee, with a hint of hops. Aroma is light and medium carbonation. Not a bad Oktoberfest if this is one of your favorite styles.
